10 August 2008 Energy thinker Amory Lovins speaks in Basel
Amory Lovins, Chairman and Chief Scientist of the Colorado based Rocky Mountain Institute will speak at Global Energy Basel. The forethinker will elaborate on necessary steps towards a secure and ecological energy supply. Lovins’ participation at the first global conference to promote and build partnerships for integrated energy solutions is in line with his promotion of energy concepts based on conservation, efficiency and the use of renewable sources of energy.

Lovins, a MacArthur Fellow and consultant physicist, co-founded the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) in 1982 to foster efficient resource use and policy. RMI areas of expertise include the topics GEB focuses on: energy use and supply, buildings and land development, transportation, manufacturing, climate protection, and community economic development.
Lovins has advised the energy and other industries for 34 years. His work in 50+ countries has been recognized by many awards including the Right Livelihood ("Alternative Nobel"), Onassis, Nissan, Shingo, Volvo and Mitchell Prizes. He advises industries and governments for radical energy and resource efficiency worldwide, has briefed 19 heads of state, and has published 29 books. Newsweek has praised him as "one of the Western world's most influential energy thinkers". |
