UN Secretary-General finds GEB a “unique platform”

“From the climate crisis to armed conflict and poverty, many of the world’s most pressing challenges are connected to our rising – and often unsustainable – demand for energy. These interdependencies must be understood, and they must be addressed,” writes Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, in a message to the organisers of Global Energy Basel (GEB).

Further, he states: “Global Energy Basel has emerged as a leading forum for the energy community to showcase good practice and new solutions. It is my hope that this unique platform will guide us towards making the policy decisions we need to stimulate innovation, promote efficiency, tackle climate change and secure a sustainable energy future for all.” Global Energy Basel (GEB) is the first global platform to promote and build partnerships for integrated energy solutions and will take place from November 12 to 14, 2008 in Basel, Switzerland.
