The world is heading towards a fundamental change in the way it handles energy. In the face of climate change and rising prices for fossil fuels, particularly oil and natural gas, the ways in which societies are securing their energy supply are coming under close scrutiny.

A peaceful and economically sound transition to a new energy paradigm is the 21st century’s principle global challenge.

There are three solutions for these issues:

• Creating a secure energy supply

• Defining and meeting the requirements of climate change

As compared to a single-solution approach, integrated solutions typically boost energy security, cost efficiency and environmental benefits by 20 to 40%, in many cases considerably more.

Innovative partnerships

A growing number of global and regional companies today provide innovative solutions that efficiently fulfil the needs in various areas influencing energy consumption. However, to efficiently tackle the entire scope of large infrastructure projects, even large providers will need to collaborate with other partners.

Therefore Global Energy Basel’s (GEB) first and foremost goal is providing a platform to promote and build partnerships for integrated energy solutions.
