Klaus Töpfer, Chairman

Klaus Töpfer is known for his personal commitment to promote environment and sustainable development. He held office as Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Director-General of the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON) from 1998 to 2006. Before joining the United Nations, Klaus Toepfer spearheaded environmental policy in his native country, Germany. He held office as Federal Minister of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety from 1987 to 1994. Website

 


Eileen Claussen

As President of the Pew Center on Global Climate Change and Strategies for the Global Environment, Eileen Claussen supports the centre's mission: to provide credible information, straight answers, and innovative solutions in the effort to address global climate change. Eileen Claussen is the former Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs. Prior to joining the Department of State, Eileen Claussen served for three years as a Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Global Environmental Affairs on the National Security Council. Christoph Frei

Christoph Frei is Director of Energy Industries & Strategy at the World Economic Forum. Additionally, he is assigned as Professor at the Energy Center of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. He also holds a number of honorary positions, i.e. as a member of the Review Board of the World Energy Outlook 2005/2007 of the International Energy Agency (IEA). Christoph Frei’s mission is to contribute to a holistic understanding of the linkages between energy, environment and society, and to the development of policy tools and social innovation models and their realisation. Claude Martin
Former Director General of World Wildlife Fund International (WWF)

Claude Martin is Honorary Advisor of WWF International and was the former Director General from 1993 to 2005. During his tenure at WWF International, Claude Martin has initiated several new approaches in conservation, such as the Target Driven Programmes, as well as partnerships, for example with the World Bank and business/industry groups. He is a member of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) – a high level advisory body to the Chinese Government – as well as a board member of numerous other environmental bodies. Chris Luebkeman

Chris Luebkeman, a structural engineer and architect by training, is Director and leader of the global Foresight and Innovation initiative at Arup, a UK based firm of consulting engineers and designers. His current research initiatives include conceptual designs for the home and office of the future. Prior to joining Arup in 1999, he taught in the Departments of Architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, the University of Oregon, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Walter Fust
Former General Director, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation

Walter Fust has been Director-General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) based in Bern since September 1993. The Agency is responsible for the overall coordination of development activities of the Swiss government and for humanitarian aid. Prior to joining the SDC, Walter Fust held a number of positions in the diplomatic service and within the Swiss government. He is also a member of the Panel of Advisors of the United Nations Task Force on Information and Communication Technologies and a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Governance Initiative of the World Economic Forum. Siegfried (Zhiqiang) Wu
Dean College of Architecture and Planning, Tongji University

Siegfried Wu is Dean of the College of Architecture and Planning at Tongji University, Shanghai, China. His research interests include the urban spatial development strategy study for Shanghai, foreign investment in the Chinese building and construction industry, developing environmental assessment systems for the Chinese building industry, and sustainable development. Siegfried Wu has been project manager for a range of planning processes in China, such as: the Shangyang development strategy plan; the Zhengzhou tourism strategy plan; the Sunqiao modern agriculture zone plan and the Yili city urban design plan. Ashok Khosla
President Club of Rome, Chairman of the Development Alternatives Group

Ashok Khosla is one of the world's leading experts on the environment and sustainable development. He is the founder and chairman of Development Alternatives, a Delhi-based non-governmental organisation devoted to promoting commercially viable, environmentally friendly technologies. Former posts include the position as Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Ashok Khosla has been a board member of numerous global environmental organisations, including the Club of Rome, the World Conservation Union and the International Institute for Sustainable Development.
